I’ve tried sending Fan Mail but everytime I hit the send botton I get this error screen that says:
There was an error processing your request. Our engineers have been alerted and will work quickly to correct any issues.

We’re incredibly sorry for the inconvenience.

Please feel free to contact support if the problem persists. Please include your Tumblr URL and the email address you use with your Tumblr account.

I don’t really get why. The theme is gotten from Tumblr and the person send to are following one another. Can someone shed any light?

    Mr. Tumblr Reply:

If that problem persist, just send an email to support@tumblr.com explaining in detail the error message.

I’m not sure if it really is ‘instant’ though. I went to send fan mail to someone I started following last night, and a message popped up that said ‘You haven’t been following this blog long enough to send fan mail.’ :( (I understand why they do it, but it’s a little annoying.) Just wanted to point out that error!

Incidentally, I really do like the feature overall though. It’s super-convenient because it’s always annoyed me that I have to send ‘ask’s from my primary blog, which is a humor blog, and thus it’s hard to get attention to the blog I use most often, and which is more likely to be relevant to the user I’m talking to. So thumbs up for that option! :D

There now seems to be a length of time you have to be following somebody in order to send them fanmail. I followed somebody today and immediately wanted to send them mail but the error I got said, “You haven’t been following this person long enough to send fan mail.” Annoying!

I am using Fan Mail which is working out fine for private use, but I cannot see the letters I send, only the letters that are sent back to me. Is it possible to see both and in sequence or does Fan mail only keep log of returned letters?

Wrong information? Seriously, how long I need to wait? It’s kinda urgent. I need to send a Fan Mail ASAP.

I’ve read a few faqs on Fanmail for Tumblrs, but I have found no mention of, much less an answer to my query: how do I access the fanmail I’ve SENT? (Because replies sometimes come days later, and since I now cannot see what I had said to illicit such a reply, is there a way to view my old sent fanmails?) Please solve this for me, or point me to someone who knows the solution?

PS for now my workaround is to compose the fanmail in NoteBook, then copy it to fanmail, send it to myself, and only then copy and send it to the actual intended recipient.

    Mr. Tumblr Reply:

    You cannot.

I have a question, where do I have to paste the message image code in step 1? In the custom css or in the layout code?

    Thank you in advance.

how do you know that the person setting up the fan page is the real celeb not just any random person?

    Mr. Tumblr Reply:

You need to verify on the official celeb’s website if they have a tumblr blog linked, 99% of the time they do link to it if they have it.

I am trying to send a blogger fan mail who does not have a link to their ask box active.
When following someone, what is the length of time until you can send them fan mail? It is restricting me because I have been following them for about 24 hours. I’m curious what that passing point time is for future reference.

I have a problem about fan mail. I sent one asking to be a member in the page, they replied but when I see my messages, nothing shows up. It says I have 2 messages but I can see just one ask I got and no clue about the reply. Anyone know how to fix this?

Someone had sent me fanmail and I tried to reply, though I don’t know if the reply had actually gone through. Will the message be deleted if I reply to fanmail like an ask will be if you reply to it privately?

Actually, you do need to wait to send a fan mail after following someone. But I need help, I followed someone and I wanted to send them a fan mail. I followed them for a long time now and it still won’t let me send anything. Does it need to be activated or something?

Please tell me the actual time you need to wait before sending a fan mail -_-
