How To Import Your WordPress Blog Into Tumblr

We’ve finally found a solution that allows you to import your wordpress posts into Tumblr (the other way around means the same, to export your wordpress posts to tumblr). Until now, Getting your Tumblr Content into WordPress (self-hosted or not) is far more easy, just by judging the amount of plugins and scripts available.

Jon Thornton is the person behind the script that quickly allows you to move your wordpress content into Tumblr without much trouble.

Steps to Migrate WordPress To Tumblr

  • First of all, download this tool, wp2tumblr.py
  • Go to your wordpress dashboard and click on Tools >> Export
  • Run the script you just downloaded and follow the on-screen instructions.
Notice that automatically sending your wordpress post to tumblr after getting published is something completely different, since it has nothing to do with migration. You need to read this post if you just want to republish your article on Tumblr.

If you happen to know a different “Wordpress To Tumblr” import tool, just let us know leaving a comment below.

Instead of downloading and running scripts you might also want to try out http://www.import2.com/tumblr – an online service to help you import from WordPress to Tumblr. It’s not free though
