How to Hide Tags in Tumblr Posts

If you want to hide your tags in your Tumblr posts, you just need to remove some lines of code from your theme’s html. Don’t worry about the tag information being removed from your post, it will still be there, and in case you want to make them show up again, do the opposite of this tutorial.

If you are actually looking forward to remove tumblr timestamps, follow the link.

How To Hide The Tags in Your Tumblr Posts

  1. Back up your Tumblr Theme Once in Customize Appereance >> Edit HTML >> Copy all the code inside and save it in a .txt file
  2. Go to Customize Appereance >> Edit HTML
  3. With control+f  find the following tag {block:HasTags} or just HasTags.  There could be more than one of these tags, but the important part here is that you delete everything that is inside {block:HasTags} and {/block:HasTags} (including the mentioned parameters)
  4. Example:

  5. <html>
        <body>
            {block:Posts}
                <div>
                    {block:Text}...{/block:Text}
                    {block:Photo}...{/block:Photo}
                    ...

                    {block:HasTags}
                        <ul>
                            {block:Tags}
                                <li>
                                    <a href="{TagURL}">{Tag}</a>
                                </li>
                            {/block:Tags}
                        </ul>
                    {/block:HasTags}
                </div>
            {/block:Posts}
        </body>
    </html>

  6. After you deleted this line of code, your tags will be deleted from anyone who visits your blog, just bear in mind to keep the code you erased just in case you want your old theme back.

    Will this hide our tags in the dashboard or in our actual tumblr blog (I was looking for hiding them in the dashboard)

    Just in the blog, you will have to erase the tags from your posts if you want to hide them from the dashboard stream

    This really helped! Thanks. Though I was looking for the opposite intention. I needed tags in my tumblr from a theme that doesn’t have tags. :D
