How to Change Tumblr Post Background Color

Every single Tumblr theme has a different inner html structure, so there’s no single way to change your post background colors.  However, if you leave your theme in the comments, we will be able to help you out with this.  You must take into account the follwoing guidelines when changing your Tumblr posts html background colors;

Change Tumblr Post Background Color.

  • You must find out what div tags are wrapping your posts, doesnt matter what type they are.  The ID is the key to changing the color
  • Many times, the posts have corners, footers and headers that are shaped with images, so changing the color might not be enough though
  • Most tumblr themes have a separate .css file where it labels all these parameters, also defining the posts background color

Just leave your comment if you want us to help you with your theme.

    here is my dilemma: i KNOW a lot about html and css, but the whole tumblr custom themes have me completely lost (i had my own domain for 3+ years). what i’d like to change about my current theme is to have some sort of background image… fixed, repeating, it doesn’t matter, but i want the actual tumblr posts to have the sort of opacity that it has with just a solid color as the background. i know how to make this effect in regular html with tables and whatnot but like i said, these tumblr themes have me scratching my head. i have scoured the code for this particular theme, and i just cannot make sense of it. any help would be greatly appreciated :)

    I am using the Astronaut theme. I changed my background but the ‘about me’ section is white and it is extremely noticeable. Is there any way to make this a different color, or make it a tad transparent?

    It’s Effector Theme by Pixel Union. I’d be really grateful, if you could help me. =) The coding for that theme is just a bit too immense for me as a starter.
