If you take a look at Google Trends (a tool that measures keyword search volumes) and compare Tumblr to a most generic term, like Blog, you will find out how insane are the popularity levels of Tumblr worldwide, check the screenshots below.
If you chose to “Share Posts on Your Timeline” within your Tumblr blog settings, your published posts will now be sent automatically to your Timeline, News Feed and Ticker (though you can toggle each post individually before publishing if you decide to keep it in your Tumblr only).
What does this mean exactly?. First of all, your posts will now show more “properly” since Tumblr App is now part of Facebook Open Graph.
Another great feature about the new integration with the Facebook Timeline, is that your content is kept private, that means people reading your timeline will have to visit Tumblr in order to know what’s behind the title, this is great news for publishers hungry for more hits in their blog.
Sending your Tumblr Posts to Facebook will never be the same after this update.
Once you loging to your Tumblr account today, you will be welcomed by a screen that displays the new Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, and, last but not least brand-new Contest Guidelines.
After all the fuzz that caused Tumblr by saying that self-hamr and anorexia blogs could be shut down, now comes this, where they effectively estate that these tumblrs are indeed included in the black-list and will be banned sooner or later.
Most contest we’ve seen on tumblr though, seem to be now in a flagrant violation of the new policies.
The Tumbeasts are now the official Tumblr Error Pet, pretty much like what the Fail Whale is to Twitter. First, Tumblr raised $ 25 million dollars in funding, almost two months later the first signs of that money getting invested start manifesting. A new hire, more precisely a Fashion Director (Were you expeting to hear the word Engineer?), Rich Tong, founder of weardrobe.com. According to Fashionista, Tong’s first idea was to send aroung 20 Fashion Tumblr bloggers to New York Fashion Week.
How were these fashion bloggers chosen?. Maybe the one that pasted more copyrighted pics, or the one who liked Elle magazine the most?. Probably just because these Tumblelogs in particular (among them are What I Wore, Peace Love Chanel and SarahZucker) have a huge base of followers.
Tumblr is also hosting the NYFW in a real time feed. Hope it doesn’t go down at all, since there seems to be some Media Partners content in there as well, and they are expecting a flood of unique visitors to their Tumblr “alternative channel” sites.
Is this the right move when comes to spend your investor’s greens?. Maybe an agreement with magazines to throw exclusive content for Tumblr would be better?. We will be waiting how the Tumblr Fashion community reacts once these Fashion bloggers start pouring fresh New York Fashion Week content into their Tumblelogs. If it happens to be explosive, Tumblr would show the Fashion Industry how influential they can be.
Is there anything such as Tumblr addiction?. We think so, since Reblogs, Likes and Followers, plus an extremely user friendly interface, that allows publishing in terms of a minute, makes Tumblr more a social network community than a simple microblogging platform. Tumblr’s expansion plans are already taking place. While keeping their headquarters in New York City, the company opened new offices in Richmond, Virginia. It seems to be that their mobile developers and community support team are already in the area, so setting up new offices there seems like a good idea.
The specific building Tumblr chose to rooms was the Corrugated Box Building. The building design is not a novelty for tech companies, seems like a renovated warehouse.
The official inauguration will take place on January 13
